Linsey Silverstein, Psy.D.

Dr. Linsey McMillan Silverstein is a licensed psychologist (PSY32666) in California. She completed her doctorate and master’s degrees in clinical psychology at Alliant International University in San Diego, California. She completed her bachelor’s degree at Smith College in Northampton, Massachusetts. Dr. Silverstein has had several years of experience prior to licensure working at the outpatient level with children, adolescents, adults, and families.  She has worked at various community clinics, school settings, and in private practice.  She currently offers therapy with children, teens, and adults.

Dr. Silverstein has particular interest in helping clients with anxiety, adapting to stressors/life changes, adjusting to school, addressing relationship problems, navigating friendships and peers, handling emotional difficulties arising from learning disabilities/learning differences, and managing parenting/parent-child relationship issues.

In therapy, Dr. Silverstein’s focus is first on creating a respectful and safe place for clients to explore whatever is bothering them in a non-judgmental environment. She works collaboratively to create an individualized approach that best fits you or your child’s needs. She focuses on strengths, fostering independence, the ability to connect to others, self-knowledge, and self-compassion. Technically speaking, Dr. Silverstein utilizes a variety of psychotherapy modalities in an integrated manner, including interpersonal, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioral approaches. Dr. Silverstein loves being a therapist and enjoys the satisfaction of helping people live fuller and more meaningful lives.

When seeing children in therapy, Dr. Silverstein strongly values working with parents as partners.  As a parent herself, Dr. Silverstein understands the inherent complexity of raising children in the modern world.  She believes that there are no “one-size-fits-all” parenting solutions and that some kids are just more challenging than others.  She works with caregivers to collaboratively find creative solutions that respect your family values and your child’s unique personality while providing education about research-backed parenting strategies.
